Solidarity in Defense of the Common Good!

Schools for Chiapas || This week on November 17th marked the 42nd anniversary of the founding of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation. Simultaneously, at COP 30 in Belén, Brazil indigenous leaders from around the globe rally for demarcation of indigenous lands as a core element of climate policy. And yet in Mexico, despite pretenses of social justice under President Claudia Sheinbaum, the dispossession of indigenous lands continues apace in the quest to implement the Mayan Train, the Interoceanic Corridor, the Morelos Integral Project, and the so-called “Highway of Cultures” among others. As such, Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be a defender of land and rights. As we witness the insatiable monster of power and property consume communal lands, sacred waters, irreplaceable forests and biodiversity, we call on you all to take action! Defend the Común!
Join the email blast! Show Mexican officials that the whole world is watching! In the context of the 42nd Anniversary of the founding of the EZLN, we ask you to take two very quick actions:
- Send an email to the Mexican Ambassador in Washington D.C. denouncing the ongoing dispossession and criminalization of indigenous defenders.
- Send an email en español to Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum, Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez and the Governor of Chiapas Eduardo Ramírez.
Link to each of these emails above! The addressees and body of the text are included. Add your voice (if you want) and sign your name!

Below you can see there are downloadable templates to write to the Ambassador, both in English and en español.
Feel free to use these examples to personlize your letter!
