Mike Elk || Payday Report has been tracking the growing strike movement across the country against ICE’s occupation of Minneapolis. So far, our map shows that there are Minneapolis General Strike solidarity actions in at least 215 cities across the United States.
The strike wave comes after the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, the Minnesota AFL-CIO, and several large labor federations around Minnesota have called for a “Day of Truth of Freedom” as workers intend to strike and walk out on Friday.

“I think we will have tens of thousands of workers in the street in the Twin Cities,” says CWA Local 7520 President Keiran Knutson, one of the leaders of the Minneapolis General Strike.
Now, it appears that the Minneapolis General Strike wave is spreading across the country, with actions in at least 120 cities, and is expected to grow.
The strike in Minnesota is already inspiring actions by labor, community, and immigrant rights groups around the country. Payday Report has already tracked solidarity actions with the Minneapolis General Strike in at least 80 cities around the country.

During the pandemic, The Washington Post credited Payday Report with being the first news organization to systematically track the strike wave. Now, Payday Report believes that we are seeing the beginnings of another massive strike wave.
“Hopefully, what is happening in Minnesota becomes a model of how we can fight back against these raids,” says Knutson.
In the coming days, Payday Report will provide more updates on solidarity actions with the Minneapolis General Strike, which is taking place across the country.
