The revolution will not be livestreamed, which is no doubt disappointing for devotees of the Facebook revolution. Which part of dopamine addiction and the groupthink of copdependent, perenially-online social cliques is revolutionary self-discipline? Somehow the Meta algorithm is working against the cause of economic democracy and a basically sane and just social order that offers us a chance of not being just totally bulldozed by encircling ecocide. Oh well, we shouldn’t that stop us from staying on fakebook. We do rely on the comforting illusions of Leninism as well, that we can remain subjectively dependent on nominally revolutionary authority and somehow not reproduce the conditions of our own servitude while building revolutionary utopias even worse than everything they’re supposed to replace. Hardly as though having half-assed politics is off the curve for the left.
Oh well I guess the revolution isn’t going anywhere, the only thing left is to virtue-signal revolutionary morality by purging and excluding weakest links inside sterile, codependent microcults built around charismatic personalities who encourage us to feel like we’re part of a morally-elect elite. This is pretty sweet when the only alternative is the humilitation of subjection under wage-slavery. Actually come to think of it I think I’m a liberal now, they’re into the exact same kind of thinking and you don’t have to turn your nose up at class hierarchies and your own upward class mobility in the name of principles no one believes in, like class solidarity. I no longer feel guilty about being a perennially online slacktivist either. Winning!
