New union section formed: Educa Edtech

CNT Granada || The staff of the Educa Edtech building in Maracena, Granada, after 20 years of union invisibility and with more than 400 people working, are uniting to fight for an improvement in the quality of life and work-life balance in our non-formal training center.

To that end, we have come together as a workplace, regardless of the company that hires us, to raise some issues that we want reviewed.

Among other things, we request an expansion and review of the work model, to achieve a hybrid teleworking modality that allows us to reconcile our family and personal life with the position that corresponds to us as is being promoted by state laws.

On the other hand, we demand the reinstatement of our bonuses and salary improvements that have been disappearing over the years.

Following the launch of the Union Section, all that remains is for us to continue negotiating, joining forces to achieve these and other challenges that may arise.

If you are part of Educa Edtech, contact [email protected]  or [email protected] .

Let’s count on each other, let’s count on the union.

New union section formed: McDonald’s

CNT Granada June 16 || The workers at McDonald’s Plaza Albert Einstein, together with CNT Granada, have formed a new union section in the restaurant, taking a step forward in collective organizing to defend their labor rights and improve their working conditions.

After months of witnessing the company’s failure to respect work shifts and rotating breaks, the abundance of split shifts that hinder work-life balance, poorly executed payrolls month after month, and other problems that directly affect the daily lives of the staff, the workers have decided to say enough is enough and organize themselves to demand real solutions.

The creation of this union section stems from the need to have our own tool that allows us to collectively convey the demands of the staff and to deal with situations that, far from being isolated incidents, have become a constant within the workplace.

The goal is to find effective solutions that put an end to the widespread discontent among the staff and guarantee fair and respectful working conditions for all.

If you work at McDonald’s Plaza Albert Einstein or any other restaurant in the chain and want your working conditions to be respected, contact [email protected] or [email protected]. Our union section can advise you, support you, and help you defend your rights against any labor violations.

CNT Madrid creates a union section at Sparta Commodities

CNT Madrid June 24 || The CNT Madrid union has established a branch at Sparta Commodities , a fintech-datatech scaleup (a now-established startup focused on technology applied to finance and data) with offices in Geneva, London, and Madrid. The company offers an on-demand (SaaS) platform that allows investors to speculate in commodity markets (such as fossil fuels) using real-time market information and analysis. Its founders were traders, and some of its current management team comes from Palantir, a technology company with a highly questionable political track record . Its main clients include major oil and energy companies such as Moeve, Chevron, Galp, Petronas, and PetroChina.

Like many startups, Sparta didn’t grow like any other business: its goal is to scale. To achieve this, it secured funding rounds (seed, Series A, B, C…) that now exceed $65.5 million, thanks to investors like OnePeak, FirstMark, and Singular. And, as is often the case when a startup surpasses Series B and becomes a scaleup, the time comes to “accelerate growth.” This is when so-called “high-performance” cultures emerge.

That’s exactly what we’ve experienced at Sparta Commodities: grueling, uncompensated workdays, “performance-based” dismissals, harassment of those returning from sick leave or paternity leave, “restructuring”… We’ve seen it all firsthand in the last two years. The company has clearly experienced economic growth, but salaries have stagnated for years, with a 5% cap on raises reserved for “top performers.” Meanwhile, Sparta has been relocating engineering roles to the UK, where our colleagues are enduring even longer hours.

None of this is by chance. The European tech sector has been experiencing mass layoffs and cuts to rights such as remote work for two years, something that is also happening in the video game industry, where CNT Madrid is also beginning to establish a presence.

That’s why we’ve organized ourselves within the CNT of Madrid. Although this sector and these markets are presented as disruptive, our approach is just as effective here as anywhere else: anarcho-syndicalism. We call on the rest of the Sparta Commodities workforce to contact us, to take the step and join the union and the local branch. Together we are stronger. Count on the CNT.

CNT establishes a new union section in the company DIbéricos

CNT Valencia June 26 || The CNT union has established a new branch at DIbéricos, a company with stores throughout the province of Valencia. The union has a presence in all of the company’s stores, located in various municipalities.

The new union branch has already requested a meeting with company management, which they hope to hold before June 30th. In addition to the introduction of union representatives and the appointment of authorized representatives for dialogue and negotiation, the meeting will address various issues affecting the workforce.

On the one hand, the meeting will address the company’s proposed unilateral change to summer hours, and on the other, the staff shortage and the resulting workload for those already employed at the stores. In addition, they intend to discuss other matters related to certain salary supplements that are considered important.

The new union section is established with the intention of starting its journey in the company in a cordial, close and collaborative manner, agreeing with Management on formulas that promote a good environment for the staff and improve sales to customers.

In the case of DIbéricos, it is noted that, given that there is no unitary representation in any of the centers in Valencia, the Union Section intends to serve as a channel to convey the demands and defend the interests of the large membership that CNT already has in all establishments.
